INTRODUCTION
The
naming of a clan is a very sacred process. It is not dictated by the
creativity alone of the facilitator, but is rather more of a download of information that best represents the existing energy
of the group as a whole. Through intuition, meditation, inspiration,
imagination, observation and deep listening the clan is named, not by a
human, but through a human by the unseen energy source that connects us
all one to another.
We are but reflections of one another, until we are
reflecting only what is inside of our heart of hearts from our purest
essence. And we will then each be one to another the most persistent of
reminders of the greatness that lies within each of us. For it is then that we are
projecting the most essential part of our highest and finest selves
from the very core of our being. And so it is wise to pay attention to
everything and everyone that comes into your space. Let no blessing go unnoticed and no message go
unheard. Be not fooled by the wrapping paper on the gift or the cover on
the book.
And so with this, we have the
naming of this Addiction Alchemy tribe on September, 2007:
The Gryphon
Clan
ENERGIES
VISION & WISDOM +
COURAGE & STRENGTH

GRYPHON'S
POWER
The modern day Gryphon is someone who isn't afraid of the truth. And
because of this has a very accurate way of seeing things. Gryphon's can
clearly see the truth of a situation or someone's words and with great
courage and strength will take action with wisdom.
The higher vision of the eagle
part of the gryphon allows for great insight into what makes another
person, or anything else for that matter, tick. Gryphon can almost
piercingly see the core truth. Yet, it is the lion part that helps
Gryphon know what to do with this truth. Lion imparts great strength and
courage and a willingness to be fearless in dealing with lies,
deception, scams and denial.
The person carrying Gryphon energy
knows, sees and feels the truth, sensing and intuiting from great and
vast heights and knows exactly what to do with this knowledge.

GRYPHON’S MESSAGE
Gryphon empowers you to see the truth of any situation. He will help you
to see through the smoke and mirrors and behind the curtain to the
deepest level of truth. And then he will help you masterfully handle
these morsels of truth with great skill for the greater good of all
concerned, including yourself. He gives you the vision and wisdom to
know the difference between things you can and cannot change and the
courage and strength to change what you can.
If Gryphon is speaking to you, it is likely you are suppressing this
amazing ability that you have to see into other's souls. There may be
something that is too painful for you to see. Ironically the denial of
your own personal truth and repression of your intuition will likely
bring far greater suffering to you than anything else.
Gryphon can provide safe passage
out of the land of denial. And once this is accomplished, he can bring
you massive amounts of fortification with both his bird's eye view and
his command of the earth kingdom. After all, as half eagle, he is the
Lord of the Skies and as half lion, he is King of the Jungle. Both
domains are at his rule. This brings tremendous power to any situation.
Gryphon alerts you to the concept
of power versus force. With the indomitable blend of raptor and beast,
he walks in his power and commands great respect from all who cross his
path. Some say that Gryphon represents the marriage of heaven and earth,
man and divinity and that he is the keeper of duality. If this is so, he
gives us the power to discover and tap into all of our resources and
take back our personal power.

GRYPHON
SAYS…
Get on my back and ride like the wind. Let me help you gain perspective
on your situation. Let me help you energetically remove yourself so that
you can see, objectively once more. I will not only help you see the
truth about others, I will help you see the truth about yourself and
your life. I will show you your own gifts of sight.
But I don't just give you sight, I
can also bring you the wisdom to know what to do with the nuggets of
truth that you uncover. For whatever a thing is...if it's the truth, it
is more valuable to you than gold. As you amass your treasure, I
can help you uncover the personal courage and strength to take right
action, with speed and grace.
As we come back down to earth and
you have seen the sights, I can show you how to command your life and
attract what you want by having the courage to speak up about what you
want. I can help you find the courage to release negative thoughts and
behavior patterns that do not serve your highest good, reclaiming your
energy and making room for what does.
I can help you integrate the
duality of any situation, while honoring your personal boundaries and
respecting those of others. If something is unacceptable to you, my
courage and strength will help guide your action. As you step more into
your power, I can help you focus on what you want, instead of what you
do not want. Remember, no one can block you from your true path.
I am the guardian of the knowledge
of good and evil, right and wrong and so as you bite into the fruit of
the tree of life, I can help you select only the best fruits. So, don't
be afraid to take a bite out of that apple, for it represents the
sweetness and fullness of life that is your birthright. As you became
human, you made a covenant to accept good, honor and glory into your
life. Gryphon says, "Now, do it!".

SYMBOLOGY
GRYPHON
TOTEMS
Because of the griffin's strength and powers of sight, it was believed
to guard hidden treasures and hide them in their nests with their young.
Because of its association with the Holy Grail, one of the treasures
most commonly guarded by griffins was emeralds. (The Holy Grail was
carved from a single emerald. It was used to hold the wine at the Last
Supper and believed to have magical powers.) Other popular treasures
guarded by griffins were the Tree of Life, knowledge, and the roads to
salvation. Greeks and Romans used griffin images to guard tombs.
Griffins are a symbol of the sun, wisdom, justice, strength, and
salvation.

ORIGINS OF GRYPHON
The griffin is a mythical creature
with the face, beak, talons and wings of an eagle and the body of a
lion. At times, it is portrayed with a long snake-like tail. In some
traditions, only the female has wings. Its nests are made of gold and
its eggs resemble agates. Pliny believed griffins came from Northern
Russia; Aeschylus thought they originated in Ethiopia; and Bullfinch
wrote that their native country was India. In its body, the griffin is
blessed with the speed, flight, and penetrating vision of the eagle and
the strength, courage, and majesty of the lion.
In symbolism, the griffin combines the symbolic qualities of both the
lion and the eagle. It is the king of birds and lord of the air united
with the king of beasts and lord of the earth.
The griffin's dual nature led it to be associated with Jesus Christ, God
and man, king of heaven and earth. The eagle half of the griffin
signified Christ's divinity and the lion half represented His humanity.
Because no one could block the path of a griffin, this creature was
especially associated with that passage in the Gospel which records
Christ's marvelous passage through the crowd at Nazareth who were
determined to throw Him off a cliff. [Luke 4:28-30] During the Middle
Ages, griffins were symbols of Christ's resurrection. The strength of
the lion and the wisdom of the eagle combined in the griffin symbolized
the strength and wisdom of God.
The logical difficulties of duality, led some people to see in the
griffin the perversion of the strengths of both animals. Gevaert
theorized that the combination of lion and eagle parts would more or
less cripple the griffin, depriving him of the ability to fly
unencumbered like the eagle or walk nobly like the lion. It was
associated with those who used their powers to persecute the Christians,
evil personified, the Antichrist, and the Devil. There was even an
imaginary creature called the griffin-dragon who had the tail of a
dragon or a snake. This one always represented evil.
One legend involving griffins is the Ascension of Alexander the great.
According to this story, Alexander captured a pair of griffins and,
having starved them for three days, hitched them to his throne and,
teasing them with chunks of roast beef held above their heads on lances,
flew heavenward for seven days. Alexander would've stolen a peek at God
Himself if an angel had not asked him why he wanted to see the things of
heaven when he did not yet understand the things of earth. Chastised for
his presumptuousness, Alexander flew back to earth. Representations of
Alexander's ascension were placed in French and Italian cathedrals
during the 12th century.
The griffin's ability to soar like an eagle made him an emblem of poetic
and spiritual inspiration. The eagle parts of the griffin represented
the saints with their thoughts, aspirations, and souls lifted towards
God. Its lion half stood for their courage in the arena and in the
continuing struggle against sin, evil, and the Devil. As emblems of the
saints, griffins are sometimes pictured eating fruit picked from the
Tree of Life. [see Rev 2:7]
During captivity, Israelites would have become familiar with the griffin
image. Both Persians and Assyrians decorated with images of this magical
beast. Images of two griffins drinking from a flaming cup were common in
the Persian religion, Zorastrianism. Later, the Crusaders, coming across
this image, would be reminded of the Eucharist and the cup of fire
became associated with the Holy Grail.
During the Middle Ages, Christian nobles searched for griffin's eggs or
"grypeseye" which they mounted and used for cups, believing they brought
health to any beverage.
Because of the griffin's strength and powers of sight, it was believed
to guard hidden treasures and hide them in their nests with their young.
Because of its association with the Holy Grail, one of the treasures
most commonly guarded by griffins was emeralds. (The Holy Grail was

Griffins are a symbol of the sun, wisdom, justice, strength, and
salvation.
